J.D. Salinger is dead.
He hasn't published anything since 1965, hasn't spoken to anyone since 1980. By all accounts, he was probably a hermit, a grump, and a cantankerous old man. In all likelihood, manuscripts or short stories he wasn't going to release will be found/leaked/released/something. Overall outlook: better-to-the-same.
...I am not going to cry in the library. Not, not, not.

I'm sad he's gone, but two things: 1) yay more Salinger novels and stories (cuz you know they exist) and 2) yay a possible Catcher in the Rye movie. Squeeee!!!
I'm trying to keep an open mind, but I can see so very many ways in which a Catcher in the Rye movie could suck. But, hell, I say they go for it: It's better for it to be shit than for us to speculate about it being shit.
